Learn How to Write Excellent Appeals for Your Nonprofit

High Touch Communication understands the problems that people in fundraising face. By working with us, we will teach you how to write better, raise more, and service more.

The Benefit of Writing Emotional Appeals

We conducted a factor analysis of 1.5 million words of text to see what is important in writing fundraising appeals. Through this research, we analyzed the funding appeals of several “elite” nonprofits.

Our team found that the typical appeal from elite nonprofits reads more like an academic paper rather than a typical conversation. They do not try to build a story nor create an emotional connection with the reader.

By creating a narrative, you can make the donor feel as though they are the “hero.” Once they donate to the nonprofit, they will feel as if they brought a resolution to your nonprofit’s story.

Results of Well-Written Funding Appeals

Our team worked closely with the American Heart Association headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Here, we compared results among three fund appeal packages mailed to roughly 150,000 past donors.

Three test panels of 50,000 each were compared. Of those panels, the one that followed our workshop’s writing methods had an increased response by 346%! That panel was then rolled out to 1,066,077 households.
